BIOGRAPHY OF DOUGLAS A. WHEELER, ESQ.
ACTING DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF INSURANCE
DEPARTMENT OF BANKING AND INSURANCE
In March 2009, Doug returned to the Department of Banking and Insurance as the Acting Director of the Division of Insurance. Doug had served as Assistant Commissioner for Legislative and Regulatory Affairs managing the Department’s legal team and as Chief of Staff at the Department from 2002 to 2006.
In between his time at the Department, Doug served as General Counsel for The Proformance Insurance Company, and as Vice President of Riverview Professional Services, an entity which managed medical claims for persons injured in automobile accidents. Doug also served as a public member on the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, the agency charged with regulating physicians.
Previously, from 1999-2002, Doug served as Counsel in the New Jersey State Senate where he staffed the Senate Commerce and Judiciary Committees.
Admitted to practice of law in 1996 Doug engaged in private practice with two separate law firms handling primarily commercial litigation.

The Central Jersey Chapter of the CPCU Society is committed to meeting the career development and educational needs of New Jersey insurance professionals, so that they may serve others in a competent and ethical manner.
The Chapter promotes fellowship among its members through its monthly meetings, New Jersey All Industry Day (I-Day) in cooperation with the New Jersey Chapter of the CPCU, various “good works” projects, and coordinated seminars with the CPCU Society.
